Swim course and run to the T1 transition zone
The start of this year’s race will, as always, take place in Borówno near Bydgoszcz, on the public beach (about 600 m past the now-defunct “Żagiel” resort, where the swim start used to be held). The T1 transition zone, from which athletes will head out onto the bike course, will also be located there.
The swim (2 loops for the 1/2 distance and 4 loops for the full distance) will take place in Lake Borówno. Expected water temperature – about 20°C, so wetsuits will likely be allowed.
Bike course
As in the previous year, the bike race will take place over loops (two full loops plus the return from Borówno to Bydgoszcz for the 1/2IM distance, or four loops plus the return for the IM distance) run between Borówno and the finish area near the Zawisza Bydgoszcz stadium. The course is fast and fairly flat, with one more significant climb per loop (about 8%, near the intersection of Gdańska St. and Zamczysko), which athletes will ride up and down. The turnaround points are located at the Zawisza stadium and on Gdańska St. in Borówno.
The full and 1/2 distances differ only in the location of the turnaround point – maps below:
